Manumission Peter Davis from Thomas Davis 1803

Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Davis of Murderkill hundred in Kent County and State of Delaware for divers good causes me moving thereunto have and by these presents do manumit and set absolutely free my negro man Peter Davis from the day of the date of these presents to have and enjoy all the privileges that any other free person does or can do and further I the said Thomas Davis the freedom of the said Peter Davis from any person or persons whatsoever claiming or hereafter to claim from by or under me my heirs executors administrators and assigns warrant and forever defend by these presents in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my Seal the fourteenth day of may in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and three. State of Delaware Kent County Ss } I do hereby certify that on the fourteenth day of may in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and three personally came Thomas Davis before me Benjamin Brady one of the Justices of the peace in and for said County and did sign is name to the within manumission and acknowledged the same to be his act and Deed and deliver the same for the use and purposes therein mentioned Given under my hand and seal the day and year above written.
