Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Davis of Murderkill hundred in Kent County and State of Delaware for divers good causes me moving thereunto have and by these presents do manumit and set absolutely free my negro man Peter Davis from the day of the date of these presents to have and enjoy all the privileges that any other free person does or can do and further I the said Thomas Davis the freedom of the said Peter Davis from any person or persons whatsoever claiming or hereafter to claim from by or under me my heirs executors administrators and assigns warrant and forever defend by these presents in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my Seal the fourteenth day of may in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and three.
