To all people to whom these presents may come Greeting, Know ye that I Timothy Cummins of Duck Creek hundred, kent County and State of Delaware, For divers and good causes me hereunto moving, do by these presents manumit set free and forever discharge from slavery my negro woman Perthance and her son Cato, in manner and form following Vizt. Perthence shall be free on the first day of July in the year of our Lord One thousand eight Hundred and Seven and Cato, on the first day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty one – from me my heirs executors and assigns reserving unto myself and my Heirs, the services of said Perthence and Cats untill the term of their manumission as aforesaid, – as witness whereof I have unto this presents set my hand and seal this 13th day of April in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight Hundred and one.
