Manumission Cassee Manlove from William Conlyn 1802

Know all men by these presents that I William Conlyn of Kent County in the State of Delaware think it wrong and oppressive to hold negroes in abject slavery do hereby manumit and set free to all intents and purposes my negro woman named Cassee Manlove at the expiration of eight years from the twenty fifth day of december one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine she having five years five months and fifteen days to serve from the day of the date hereof and I do hereby warrent and defend the said Cassee Manlove’s freedom from me my heirs executors administrators and assigns and from all other person or persons whatsoever claiming or hereafter to claim the said Cassee by through or under me my heirs executors administrators or either of them In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the tenth day of June one thousand eight hundred and two. 1802. State of Delaware Kent County sst. I do hereby certify that on the ninth day of may in the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and three appeared Wm Conlyn and acknowledged the within manumition to be his act and deed for the use and purposes therein mentioned before John Lowber, Justice of the peace for said County.

A True copy Examined and compared with the original this 20th Day of July 1803 Attest John Caton Recorder.
