This Indenture made this seventh day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Seventeen Between John Taylor of Chester county in the state of Pennsylvania and Margarett his wife of the one part and Absolom Gibbs of Kent County in the State of Delaware of the other part Whereas John Edmonson late of Said County of Kent in the State of Delaware (father of the said Margaret Taylor) was in his lifetime and at the time of his death Lawfully seized and possessed of and in a Certain Tract or parcel of Land situate lying and being I the Said County of Kent adjoining the village of Camden and being so thereof Seized and possessed of and in said Tract or parcel of Land died Intestate leaving a widow now the wife of Isaac Taylor and two Children to wit Eliza the wife of a certain George Batten and the aforesd Margaret wife of the said John Taylor and whereas by virtue of an order of the orphans court of the State of Delaware for Kent County said Tract or parcel of Land where of the Said John Edmonson died seized and possessed as afsd. Has been divided among his heirs and legal representatives as by a return thereof made to the Said orphans court and confirmed by the said Court reference being thereto had will more fully appear and the said John Taylor and Margaret his wife have caused their Share or dividend of said Tract of parcel of Land to be laid off in small Lots or parcels of Land by Gedion Cullen Surveyor and the said John Taylor and Margaret his wife being now out to grant and convey unto the said Absolom Gibbs all the following described wood land Lott of Ground being part of Said John Taylor and Margaret his wife wifes share or dividend of the Said Tract or parcel of Land whereof her said father John Edmondson died Seized & possessed as afsd. and is marked in a plot of the division of their Share or dividend as afsd. Into Lotts Number ten Therefore this Indenture witnessed that the said John Taylor and Margaret his wife for and in Consideration of the Just and full Sum of two hundred and forty dollars lawful money of the united States of America to them in hand paid or Secured to be paid by the Said Absolom Gibbs before the Sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof they do hereby Acknowledge and themselves there with fully satisfied contented and paid have granted bargained sold released aliened enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain sell rel= ease alien enfeoff convey and confirm unto the said Absolom Gibbs and his heirs and assigns forever all the following described Lott or parcel of ground being part of the said John Taylor And Margaret his wifes share and dividend of and in the said Tract or parcel of Land whereof her said father John Edmondson died seized and possessed as afsd. and is marked on said plot number ten and is bounded and follows to wit; Beginning at a stake standing on the South Side of Howells mill pond and a corner of the widows thirds and running there with south fifty nine and a half degrees East twenty five and a half perches to a corner of Lott number Eleven thence therewith south Eighteen and three fourths degrees East forty two and five tenths perches to a corner in the line of Joseph G. Rolands Lott thence therewith south Eighty one degrees west Seventeen and a half perches to a corner of Lott number nine then therewith North Eighteen and three fourths degrees west fifty eight and Eight tenths perches to the Beginning containing And laid out for five acres and Seventy Square perches be the same More or less. Together with all and singular the genes woods underwoods timber and trees ways waters & water courses and the Emoluments Hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the Reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents issues and profits thereof with all the Estate right title interest property claim and demand whatsoever of them the said John Taylor and Margaret his wife of in or to the said described Lott of ground and premises To have and To hold the said herein before described Lott of ground and premises with the appurtenances thereto belonging hereby granted bargained and sold to the said Absolom Gibbs and his heirs and assigns to the only proper use benefit and behoof of him the said Absolom Gibbs and his heirs and assigns forever and the Said John Taylor and Margaret his wife the said hereinbefore described Lott or parcel of Land hereby granted bargained and sold to the said Absolom Gibbs and his heirs and assigns against themselves the said John Taylor and Margaret his wife and their and each of their heirs and against all and every other person or persons now lawfully claiming or hereafter to claim the same or any part or parcel thereof by from or under them or either of them shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents.

Kent County State of Delaware Ss Be it Remembered that on this seventh day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Seventeen John Taylor and Margaret his wife the grantors In the foregoing indenture named personally came before me William Warner one of the Justices of the Court of Common Pleas for the State of Delaware afsd. and acknowledged the same to be their act and Deed Respectively and the said Margaret being Examined by me apart from her husband and out of his hearing did declare and say that She signed the same of her own free will and was not induced thereto by threats ill usage or fear of incuring the displeasure of her husband in witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand the day and year above written.
