Manumissions Negro Sarah and others from P Lofland
Know all men by these presents that I Purnel Lofland of Kent County and State of Delaware for divers Good Causes and considerations me hereunto moving do hereby manumate Enfranchise and absolutely set free the following Black people Negroes, at the time hereafter mentioned, first Sarah to serve four years and ten months from the date hereof, 2dly, Jacob to serve Sixteen years from the date hero 3 dly Arthar [?} to serve twenty one years from the date hereof and all the above mentioned Black People shall be free and at their Liberty after they serve the time above mentioned And I the aforesaid Purnel Lofland do hereby Warrant and defend the liberty and freedom of the aforesaid Black People from the lawful claim of Me my heirs executors and administrators and every other person claiming by from or under Me In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand ad affix my seal this fifteenth day of April one thousand eight Hundred and fifteen 1815 Purple Lofland [seal]

State of Delaware Kent County SS Before Me Elias Shockley one of the Justices of the Peace in and for the afsd. County on the fifteenth day of April eighteen Hundred and fifteen personally appeared the within named Purple Lofland in his proper person and did acknowledge and declare the within manumission of the several Negroes therein named and mentioned to be his act and Deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof In Testimony Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal Elias Shockley
