Manumission Wm Harris & wife & Children Negro from Saml. Broadaway

Know all men by these presents that I Samuel Broadaway of Murderkill hundred in Kent County and State of Delaware do think it wrong and oppressive to hold Negros in abject slavery and Contrary to Natural and Revealed Revelation do hereby Manumate and set free to all intents and purposes from the date hereof one Negro man named William Harriss and Esther his wife and one boy named Benjamin Harriss son of the said William Harriss and Esther his wife and one Negro Girl named Elizabeth to be free and at full liberty in eight years from the first day of January last and one Negro boy named James Harriss to be free and at full liberty in twenty one years from the first day of January last as aforesaid and one Negro boy called Samuel Harriss to be free and at full liberty in twenty three years from the said first day of January last and one Negro Girl named Letildy Harriss to be free an at full liberty in Eighteen years from the said first day of January now last past and I do hereby warrent and defend the freedom of all and Singular the aforesaid Negroes from me my heirs Executors admts. and assigns and from all and every other person or persons whatsoever Claiming or hereafter to Claim under by or through me my heirs Executors admrs. and assigns or any other person or persons whatsoever Witness my hand and seal the fourth day of February in the Year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and two. State of Delaware Kent County Ss. } I do hereby certify that on the fouth day of February one thousand eight hundred and two personally Came Samuel Broadaway before me the subscribers one of the Justices of the peace in and for said County and did then and there acknowledge the within Manumission before me the said Justice and deliver the same as his act and deed Given under my hand and Seal the day and Year above written.
