Know all men by these presents that I William McClyment of Kent County and State of Delaware for divers good causes and considerations me hereinto mooveing do hereby Manumit enfranchise and absolutely set free my Negro Boy named Philip Demby aged about fifteen years, to be free and At his full and perfect Liberty when he shall arrive to the age of twenty five years… And I do hereby warrant and defend the Liberty and freedom of the said Negro boy Philip Demby from myself my heirs Executors and Administrators; and from all and every person or person’s lawfully claiming or to claim by from or under me after the expiration of the said term In Witness whereof I hereinto set my hand and seal this Twenty second day of December in the year of Our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and twelve. State of Delaware Kent County SS. } Be it remembered that William McClyments personally appeared before me John Lowber one of the justices of the peace in and for The county of Kent in the state of Delaware and Acknowledged the above Manumition to be his Act and Deed for the use and purpose therein mentioned Given under my hand and seal at Dover the 22d day of  December A.D. 1812….. John Lowber
