Manumission Jessee from Samuel West Sr. 1801

Know all men by these presents that I Samuel West Sen. of Kent County & State of Delaware am at present the owner & possessor of a slave Named Jessee about four years old which slave I hereby manumit, Liberate & set free from me my Heirs Executors or administrators whenever he shall come to the age of twenty one years old, which if he lives will be in the year Eighteen hundred and Eighteen as Witness my hand and Seal this Eleventh day of May Eighteen Hundred & one. The State of Delaware Kent County} 1801 May the 11th Personally appeared Samuel West, the with named Grantor before, Me one of the Justices of the Peace in and for said county and State aforesaid, and acknowledged the within Instrument to be his act & deed and the negroe therein named to be Liberated and free at the time therein Expressed Given under my hand & Seal the day & year above written.
