Manumission Hannah from William Denny 1803

Know all men by these presents that I William Denny of Duck Creek hundred Kent County and State of Delaware do hereby manumit and set free one black women nam’d Hannah so that from henceforth the said Hannah shall be deemed adjudged and taken as a free persons and at full liberty from the date hereof- And I do hereby warrant and defend the freedom of the said Hannah against myself my heirs exetrs. admrs. or assigns or any of them and against all persons claiming or hereafter to claim from by or under me my heirs Exetrs. admrs. or assigns – In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this ninth day of the fifth month eighteen hundred & three – 1803 – William Denny {seal}

Kent County State of Delaware } Personally came William Denny before me the Subscriber one of the Justices of the peace in & for sd.county and acknowledged the with manumition to be his act & Deed agreeable to an act of Assembly of this State made & provided for the within case as witness my hand this 9th may 1903- Abraham Pierce
