Know all men by these presents That I Elias Shockley of Kent County & State of Delaware, for divers good causes and Considerations ^me hereunto moving do hereby Manumit enfranchaise and absolutely set free a certain Mulatoe man (or lad) named Boaz to be free and at his own liberty at the full end and expiration of Eight whole years from the day of the date hereof. I the ^aforesaid Elias Shockley do hereby declare and acknowledge the above named Negro or Mulatoe Man or lad to be fully discharged from me my Heirs executors administrators and every of them at the expiration of eight years from the date hereof as above mentioned And I the afsd. Elias Shockley do hereby warrant and Defend the Liberty and freedom of the before mentioned Multoe man from the lawful claim of me my Heirs executors administrators and every other person or persons claiming By from or Under me, In Testimony whereof I do hereby set my Hand and Affix my Seal this ^the twenty fourth day of April A.D. County on the 27th day of April 17999 Personally appeared the within named Elias Shockley in the proper person and did acknowledge and declare the within Manumission of Boaz a mulatoe man to be his act and deed according to the True intent and meaning thereof.
