Manumission sundry Negroes FROM John Cummins
Know all men by these presents that I John Cummins of smyrna in Kent County and state of Delaware Merchant for divers good causes and considerations me thereto moving have manumated enfranchised and set free, and by these presents do manumate enfranchise and set free, the following slave when and as soon as they serve the following number of years, that is to say, A Negro woman called Amy now turned twenty four years of age, to serve from this date and term of ten years fully to be completed and ended, also her daughter Suck or Susan now about two years old, to serve from the day the term of twenty three years, fully to be completed and ended; reserveing to myself my heirs Executors admirs and assigns the service of the said Negrows respectively until they severally serve the term of years heretofore specifyed, and when and as soon as they shall severally serve the term of years specifyed, they are hereby declaimed to be free exonerated and forever discharged from the services of my self my heirs executors and assigns_ In Witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and affixed my seal in the presents of two creditable witnesses This twenty second day of November the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Ten 1810. State of Maryland Queen Anns County Ss } On the 22d day of November 1810 Came John Cummins Merht before me the subscriber a Justice of the for said County and acknowledged the within Instruments of wrighting to be his act and deed and the Negro slaves therein mention to be free from him and every person or persons whatsoever Claiming under him after the expiration of the termes therein specified.
