Know all men by these presents that I Betty Lowber wife of Peter Lowber of Kent County in the State of Delaware Esquire, for divers good causes and considerations me hereto moving Hath Manumited, Emancipated, Liberated and set free, and by these Presents doth manumit Emancipate Liberate and set free, the following negroes slaves to me the said Betty Lowber to Wit, one Negro Man named Elijah, and one Negroe Woman named Lydia, with her two Children, Samuel and Hannah and one Negroe Lad named Adam and also one Negroe girl named Margaret, the said Elijah and Lydia to be and considered as free to all intents and purposes from and after the date of these presents, and also the said Hannah and Margaret two small children to be free and at Liberty Immediately after the date hereof both of which said children are now with their mothers Lydia, & Nancy where I wish them to Continue and I hereby reserve to myself, my heirs Executors & Administrators the service and Labour of the said Adam until he shall arrive to the age of Twenty one years he being now Eighteen years Old, and after he shall arrive to the age of Twenty one years to be deemed & Considered a free man to all intents and purposes and I also reserve to myself my heirs Executors & Administrators the service and Labour of the said Samuel until he Shall arrive to the age of Twenty one years he being now Eight years old and after he shall arrive to the age of Twenty one years he shall be deemed & Considered a free man, In Witness whereof I the said Betty Lowber have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal he Twenty Sixth day of september in the year of Our Lord one thousand Eight Hundred and one. Kent County State of Delaware } Be it Remembered that Betty Lowber wife of Peter Lowber Esquire personally State of Delaware } appeared before e Nathaniel Smithers one of the Justices of the peace for sd. County and did legally Execute and Acknowledge the above and foregoing Instrument of writing as her act and Deed for the uses ad intents and purposes therein mentioned. In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my land & affixed my seal the 25th day of September Anno Dom. 1801. Nath Smithers.
