Manumission Negro Susan from Thomas Bradford Junr.
Know all men by these present that I Thomas Bradford Junior of the City of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, now in Dover, Kent County, State of Delaware have manumitted and by these presents do manumit and set free from slavery my negro Girl Susan aged 20 years, a slave belonging to the personal Estate I received by marriage with my present wife Elizabeth Bradford formerly Elizabeth Loockerman daughter of Vincent Loockerman the elder formerly of Kent County State of Delaware, on condition however that she do forthwith bind herself by indenture to serve me ^and my wife Elizabeth and the survivor of us. the executors, administrators and assigns of such survivor, until she the said Susan shall attain the age of twenty eight years, in the states of Pennsylvania, Delaware, or wherever else her said master or mistress shall reside during the term of her servitude. And I do hereby give, grant and release unto the said Susan all my right, title and claim of in and to her person labour and service and to the Estate and property which she may hereafter acquire or obtain excepting only her services, in manner an form and during the term above mentioned In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twelfth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and six. 1806. State of Delaware Kent County Sst } I do certify that the above manumition was acknowledged before me John Lowber one of the Justices of the peace for Kent County in the state Delaware by Thomas Bradford Esqr to be his act and deed for the use and purpose therein mentioned. Given under my hand and seal at Dover the 13th day of August 1806. John Lowber {seal}
