Manumission Negro Sophia From Clement Clarke

Know all men by these presents that I Clement Clarke late of Kent County State of Delaware for divers causes & considerations me hereunto moving Do hereby manumit enfranchise and absolutely set Free, a certain Negro Girl named Sophia aged about fifteen years, to be free, and at her perfect liberty when she shall arive to the full age of Twenty eight years, and do hereby warrant & defend the liberty & freedom of the said Negro Girl named Sophia from all manner of person or persons claiming or to claim from by or under me or my heirs, executors, or administrators, after she arives at afsd. to the age of Twenty eight years. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this Eighteenth day of March Anno Domini Eighteen hundred & seven 1807. Clement Clarke {seal}

State of Delaware Kent County} Be it remembered that Clement Clarke the person who subscribed to the within Manumission, Personally appeared before me the subscriber, one of the Justices of the Peace in & for the said county, and acknowledged the same to be his act & deed, according to the true intent & meaning thereof, in due form of law This 18, March 1807.
