Manumission Negro Solomon from Jesse Marrett
Know all men by these present that I Jessee Marrett of the county of Kent and State of Delaware for sundry good reasons me thereunto moving do by these presents manumit enfranchize and set absolutely free a certain Negro boy named Saul or Solomon he the said Negro boy serving me or my heirs ten years and one month from this date then after ten years and one month is expired the said negro to free and at his liberty and I do hereby Warrant and defend the freedom of said Negro Saul or Solomon against me and my heirs Executors Administrators or either of them and against every other person or persons claiming or to claim any rights or titles to said Negro boy by from or under me my heirs Exectors Administrators or assigns. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this Seventh day of August Eighteen hundred and nine. 1809. Jesse Marrett {seal}
Sealed and Delivered In presents of Jas. Millechop, Thomas Coombe,
State of Delaware Kent County} Personally appeared before me James Millechop one of the Justices of the peace for the said County Jesse Marrett and acknowledged the within manumission of Negro Solomon to be his act and Deed, In due form of law. this 7th August 1809. J. Millechop
