Manumission Negro Solomon & others From John Clarke

Know all men by these presents that John Clarke of Murderkill hundred Kent County and State of Delaware for divers good causes and considerations do by these Presents manumit liberate and set free the following described negroes, that is to say (which said negroes I bought at Sheriffs sale as the Property of Nathaniel Russum at the suit of Samuel R. Fisher) one negro man named Solomon, one negro woman named Leah, the wife of said Solomon, and one negro girl named Esther, their child all to be free and at their full liberty from the date of their presents and shall be entitled to and enjoy all the rights Privileges and immunities which a free negro or mullatto may enjoy by the laws of this state. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty fifth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nine, 1809. John Clarke {seal}

State of Delaware Kent County Ss. } I do Certify that on the twenty fifth day o July one thousand Eight hundred and nine came John Clarke before me John Lowber one of the Justices of the peace for said County & Acknowledged the above manumission to be his act and Deed for the use and purpose therein mentioned. Given under my hand and Seal the day & year aforesaid. John Lowber
