Manumission Negro Shermount From Philip Harcastle.

Know all Men by these presents that I Philip Hardcastle of Murderkill hundred in Kent County and State of Delaware have and by these presents do Manumate and set free to all intents and purposes my Negro man named Shermount aged twenty one years old last April to have and enjoy all the privileges of a free man from the time he became of full age and the freedom of the said Negro man Shermount against me my heirs executors and administrators or either of them their heirs executors and Administrators and against all and every other person or persons claiming the said negro man or hereafter to claim the same by through or under me or them or either of them will Warrant and forever defend by these presents I[n] Testamony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my Seal the ___ day of February 1808. State of Delaware Kent County Ss: } I hereby Certify that on the 15th day of February one thousand eight hundred and eight personally came Philip Hardcastle before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace for said County and did acknowledge the within Manumission as his act and deed and delivered it for the purposes therein Mentioned.
