Manumission Negroe Peter Hatfield from John Hatfield

Know all men by these presents that I John Hatfield of Murderkill hundred Kent County and State of Delaware, for divers good causes and considerations, do by these presents, manumit liberate and set free, a certain Negro man named Peter Hatfield aged thirty years or there abouts. and do hereby further agree that the said Peter from this day & Year shall be entitled to and enjoy all the rights, privileges and immunities which a free negro or mulatto may or can have or enjoy by the Laws of this State. And I do hereby constitute and by these presents create and appoint John Lowber my Attorney for the purpose of acknowledging and executing these presents the more fully to effectuate this manumission. In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty seventh day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eight. John Hatfield {seal}

State of Delaware Kent County Ss. } I do certify that on the seventh day of January in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred nine personally appeared John Lowber mentioned in the within manumition, before me John Lowber one of the Justices of the Peae in and for said County and acknowledged the within manumition Given under my hand and Seal at Dover the day & year aforesaid..
