Manumission Negro Saray Frisby from John W. Pennington.
To all whome these presents shall come Greeting: Now know ye that I John Penington of Queen Anns County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me hereunto moveing Have and by these presents Do manumate and set absolutely free my Negro Girl Sarah Frisby aged seventeen years to all intents and purposes to have and injoy her liberty from the date hereof and the freedom of the said Sarah Frisby from me my heirs executors and administrators and from all and every other person or persons whatsoever claiming or hereafter to claim by through or under me my heirs executors or administrators or either of them their heirs executors or admrs. Will Warrant and forever defend by these presents as Witness my hand and seal the fourth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nine. John W. Pennington {seal}
Signed sealed and delivered in presence of James Clark, Benj. Brady,
State of Delaware Kent County Ss. } I hereby certify that on the 4th day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nine personally came John W. Pennington before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace for said county and did acknowledge the within manumission as his act and deed and delivered the same for the use and purposes therein mentioned.
