Manumission Negro Samuel from Risdon Bishop

I acknowledge to have this day sold negro Sam to Doctor John Hamm for the term of seven years from this date, and at the end of sd. term to be a Freeman according to the intent and meaning of this instrument as Witness my hand this 13th Nov. 1802. Risdon Bishop

Dendorsed as follows “Negro Sam aged about 21 years purchased from Risdon Bishop Esquire for sixty pounds. Time of service 7 years, November 13th, 1802. John Hamm

May 2d, 1808. For value received, I hereby transfer all my right to the remnant of time amounting to one year, six months & 11 days, of Negro Sam, to Mrs Amelia Cook of the town of Dover. Jno. Hamm
