Manumission Negro Robert from John Cowgill

Know all Men by these presents that I John Cowgill of Duck Creek Hundred in the County of Kent and State of Delaware for divers considerations me thereunto moving_ Do by these presents manumit my negro man Robert twenty four years old on or about the fifteenth day of February now last past & whom I purchased of John Cloak late of Little Creek hundred in the County and State aforesaid now deceased. In Witness whereof I have hereto set my hand & affixed my seal the twenty third day of March in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight Hundred and five 1805. John Cowgill {seal}

Signed Sealed & delivered in the presence of Jacob Stout

State of Delaware Kent County Ss. On the 23d day of March 1805 personally appeared John Cowgill before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the Peace in and for said County and acknowledged the foregoing manumission to be his act and Deed and desired that it might be recorded as such. Given under my hand the day and year first above written. Jacob Stout
