Manumission Negro Rachel Banking from John Spruance
To all to whome this presents shall come Know ye, that I John Spruance in the County of Kent in the State of Delaware Gentelman for divers good causes and considerations doth by this present manumit my negro Garle, Rachel Banking to be free and at her full liberty when she shall arive to the age of twenty one years old bein the age of six years old at this date Reserven to my self my heirs Executors Administrators the serves of the said Negro Rachel for the turm of Fifteen years, which will be in the year of Eighteen hundred and twenty, and at that time to be free and to enjoy all the right and previlegs of Free negros and molatos, as theay can by the Laws of this state. In Testamony whearof I have to this present sett my hand and seal this third day of May in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and six. 1806. John Spruance {seal}
