Manumission Negro Peter from Thomas Denny

We the subscribers heirs of John Denny do hereby relinquish & forever quit claim to Thomas Denney admr. Of Jno. Denney & his heirs all our right or devidend of Fifteen pounds being the valuation set on a negro boy named Peter, in consequence of said Denney, setting him free, as also for the regard we have for the said Peter’s Grandfather, Peter who served faithfully sd.  Jno. Denney upwards of Fifty years as witness our hands Octr. 19, 1803. Philip Denny, Margaret Stevenson, James Stevenson, Hester Griffin, John Naudain, Elias Naudain, Mary Wild, William Fields, Andre Naudain, Elias Naudain, Elizabeth Naudain, Danl. Crouch, William Wild, John Wild, Robert Wild, in certed by John Wild as for Rober Wild.

Witnesses: Joseph Nock. Joshua Jefferson 

I the subscriber do hereby Manumate and set Free my negro boy Peter aged about Twelve years as witness my hand and seal this Nineteenth day of October Eighteen hundred & three. 1803. Thomas Denney {seal}

Witness Present. Joseph Nock, Joshua Jefferson,

State of Delaware Kent County Sst. } I do certify that on the third day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sic personally appeared Thomas Denney, before me John Lowber one Of the Justices of the peace for said County, and acknowledged, the manumition of Negro Peter, hereunto annexed, to be his act and Deed for the use and purpose therein mentioned, given under my Hands and seal at Dover the day and year aforesaid. John Lowber.

A True copy recorded, examined and compared with the Original this 5th day of May 1806. Attest William P. Russel Recr.
