Manumission Negro Nice from James Millechop

Know all men by these presents that I James Millechop of the Village of Milford Kent County & State of Delaware, for divers good causes and considerations me hereunto moving, do hereby manumit enfranchize and absolutely set free, my Negro Girl named Nice, to be free and at her full and perfect liberty on the first day of January Eighteen hundred and nineteen, at which time she will be about twenty eight years old. And I do hereby warrant and defend the liberty and freedom of the said negro Girl named Nice from myself my heirs executors and administrators, and from all and every person or persons lawfully claiming or to claim by from or under me. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty sixth day of January Eighteen hundred and nine. 1809. Jas. Millechop {seal}

State of Delaware Kent County Ss. } I do certify that James Millechop esquire, personally appeared before me John Lowber one of the Justices of the peace for Kent County in the State of Delaware aforesaid, and acknowledged the above manumition to be his act and deed for the use and purpose therein mentioned, Given under my hand and seal at Dover the tenth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight Hundred and nine. 1809 John Lowber
