Manumission Negro Nathan From Walter Dulany
Know all men by these presents that I Walter Dulany of Kent County in the State of Delaware do hereby manumit and set free from Stavery and at the period herin after mentioned for that purpose will give up all my right and title which I now have to the services of the Negro slave hereafter mentioned, that is to say, I do hereby manumit & set free a certain Negroe Boy named Nathan now in the possession of Philip Rogers Esquire, near the City of Baltimore, in Maryland, reserving nevertheless to myself my executors Administrators and assigns the right to the services and labor of the said Negro Boy named Nathan for and during and until the full end and term of seventeen years from the day of the date of these presents; and it is hereby expressly understood and agreed by me the said Walter Dulany that the above mentioned Negro Boy named Nathan is to serve me my Executors Administrators or assigns without wages or compensation for the full term of seventeen years from the day of the date of these presents, and no longer, and that at the expiration of the said term, and not sooner, he the said Nathan is to be absolutely free and discharged of and from all and all manner of services and labor which in the mean time he may owe to me my executors administrators or assigns and shall & may be entitled to all the privileges and immunities which free Negroes are by the laws of Maryland entitled to enjoy. In testimony whereof I the said Walter Dulany have hereunto set my hand & seal this twenty fifth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & seven. Walter Dulany {seal}

Be it remembered that on this 25 day of August in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred & seven Walter Dulany appeared before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the Peace in & for Kent County and did acknowledge that the within Manumission was his act & deed In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my and the day & year in that behalf above written.
