Manumission Negro Nance & others from Robert Broadaway

Know all men by these presents that I Robert Broadaway senr. Of Murderkill hundred in Kent County and State of Delaware think it wrong and oppressive to hold negroes in abject slavery have and by these presents do Manumate and set free a negro woman called Nance which I sold to Noah Weyall of the State of Maryland together with all her Children which she had at that time except a boy called Foster to be free from the date hereof to all intents and purposes to injoy their liberty as all other persons do or can. And further I also manumate and set free my Mullatto boy named Foster when he shall arrive to the age of twenty five years he being now about twenty years old and also a Negro boy Robert, when he shall arrive to the age of twenty five years he being now about nineteen years old. and also a negro Girl Nell which I sold to Thomas Morris for six years which time she the said Nell has served to injoy her liberty from the date of these presents the Freedom of all and singular the aforesaid negroes I do hereby warrant from all and every person or persons claiming by through or under me my Heirs Executors administrators and assigns and from all and every other person or persons whatsoever and will forever defend by these presence In Testamony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the twenty fifth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and six 1806. Signed sealed and delivered in presence of Benjamin Brady, John Johnson,

State of Delaware Kent County Ss.} I do hereby certify that on the twenty fifth day of January one hundred and six. personally came Robert Broadaway before me Benjamin Brady one of the Justices of the peace for said County And did acknowledge the within and foregoing manumission before me the said Justice and deliver the same as his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned Given under my hand and seal the day and date above written.
