Manumission Negro Mary Clarke from John Primrose
Know all men by these presents that I John Primrose of the county of Kent and State of Delaware, do hereby manumit and set absolutely free from me my heirs, Executors and adms. a certain negro called Mary Clarke after the expiration of five years from this date; That she the said Mary after the expiration of said term, shall befree to all intents and purposes; hereby declaring that I have the absolute right and property in said Mary, and that I will warrant and defend her in the enjoyment of her liberty as afsd. after the expiration of said five years from this date as afsd.. And further, I hereby assign over and transfer unto Jabez Jenkins of Camden in the County and State afsd. for the consideration of sixty dollars lawful money of the United States of America, the afsd. reserved time in said negro Mary of five years, from the day and date of these presents. Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Jona. Hunn, Thomas Stroud,
State of Delaware Kent County Ss. } I hereby certify that on the 7th day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nine personally came John Primrose before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the Peace for said County and acknowledged the above manumission to be his act and deed and deliver the same for the purposes therein mentioned. Given under my hand and seal the day and year above written. Benj. Brady
