Manumission Negro Mariah from Jacob Jones

State of Delaware Kent County } Be it remembered that I Jacob Jones of the village of canterbury Murderkill hundred Kent County in the State of Delaware for divers good causes and consideration hereto moving have manumatted emancipated liberated and set free a certain negro girl the slave of me the said Jacob Jones by the name of Mariah reserving to my self my heirs executors administrators and assigns the service and labor of the said negro Girl untill she shall accomplish the full age of eighteen years she being twelve years old some time in the month of January 1812 And if the said negro Mariah should abscond from the service of me the said Jacob Jones or my heirs executor administrators or assigns that then and in such case the said negro Mariah so absconding shall make good her lost time by her absconding by servitude and labour after the expiration of the time mentioned for her to serve as aforesaid In witness whereof I the said Jacob Jones have hereinto set my hand and affixed my seal the 12th day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight Hundred and eleven 1811. State of Delaware Kent County} I do hereby certify that the within named Jacob Jones personally appeared before me Thomas Price one of the Justices of the peace in and for the Said County and did acknowledge the within manumission to be his act and deed according to the true purport and intent thereof In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 12th day of september in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven 1811.
