Manumission Negro Margraett From John Burcklow

Know all men by these presents that I John Burcels do hereby manimit and set absolutely free my Negro woman called Margret that lived with George Truitt for a Term of years, so that from this date she the said Margret is actually free to all intents & purposes as any other free negro or Mulato is entitled to freedom agreeable to an act of Assembly of said State made and provided for the manumission of slaves, and do agree and bind myself & my heirs to warrant and defend the said Negro woman Margret freedom as afforesaid  and that I will acknowledge the said Manumission before a Justice of Peace as required by Law and Have the same recorded on the records of Dover agreeable to Law [?] As witness my hand & seal this 4th day of July eighteen hundred & twelve 1812. I hereby certify that the within named John Burklow appeared before me Nathaniel Smithers one of the Justices of the peace for said County and did acknowledge the within manumission as his act an deed for the use and purposes therein mentioned. In Testimony whereof I have I have hereto set my hand & affixed my seal the 4th day of July 1812. Nathl. Smithers
