Manumission Negro Lovey from James Tharp
Know all men by these presents that I James Tharp of Mispillion hundred Kent County and state of Delaware for divers good causes and considerations me hereunto moving do hereby manumit enfranchise and absolutely set free my negro woman named Lovey. commonly called Lovey Tharp, to be free and at her full and perfect liberty from and after the day of the date hereof. she being about twenty eight years old. And I do hereby Warrant and defend the liberty and freedom of the said negro Lovey from my self my heirs Exrs and Admn and from all and every person or persons lawfully claiming or to claim by from or under me. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal this Eleventh day of December 1809. James Tharp

State of Delaware Kent County } I do hereby certify that James Tharp the same who subscribed to the above manumission personally appeared before me James Millechop one of the Justices of the peace for the said county and acknowledged the same to be his act and Deed According to the true intent & meaning thereof in due form of law. This 11 Decr. 1809. Jas. Millechop
