Manumission Negro London from James Clayton
Know all men by these presents, that I James Clayton of Murtherkill Hundred Kent County & State of Delaware, for divers good causes and considerations, do by these presents, manumit, liberate and set free, a certain Negro Man named London aged about twenty years or there abouts, at the expiration of nine years from the first day of March next, and I do hereby further agree that the said Negro London, from the first day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Fifteen, shall be intitled to and injoy all the right, previleges and immunites which a free Negro or Mulato may or an have or enjoy by the Laws of this State. In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this 28th day of November. 1805. James Clayton {seal}
Sealed & Delivered in presence of John Lowber, Saml. Turner
State of Delaware Kent County, Sst.} I do certify that on the day & year aforesaid, appeared James Clayton, and acknowledged the above Manumition to be his act and Deed for the purpose therein mentioned. John Lowber.
