Manumission Negro Levin from William S. Whiteley Jun.
To all whome it may concern, be it known, that I William S. Whiteley Junr of Kent County and state of Delaware, for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving do manumate and set free my Negro man Levin (aged Eighteen years) from and after Twelve years from this date, and him the said Negro man, I have this day sold to a certain John Patten of New castle County and State aforesaid, for the above term of Twelve years and at the expiration of Said Term, removeing all my right title, claim, and demand, whatsoever of him the said Negro Man Levin, and I do Warrant and defend him, from all manner of service or servitude to me, my heirs Executors administrators or assigns – – – In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand, and affixed my seal this Eighteenth day of January, Eigheen hundred& Eleven. – – – Wm. Kent County State of Delaware Jany 21 1811 } On this day personally appeared William S. Whiteley party to the within instrument of Writing before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace for the County afsd. _ and acknowledged the Same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned Before me _ _ James Whitaker
