Manumission Negro Leah & others from John Pettigrew
Know all men by these presents that I John Pettigrew of the Village of Milford in the County of Kent and state of Delaware for divers good causes and considerations me hereunto moving Do hereby manumit infranchise and absolutely set free a certain Negro Woman named Leah, the wife of Edward Collins free negro of the said county) aged about twenty seven years, And also her three sons, to wit: John, Richard and James Henry. All of them the said Leah, and her sons, John, Richard and James Henry to be free and at their full and perfect liberty severally, from the day of the date hereof. The liberty and freedom of the aforesaid negroes hereby manumitted, I do hereby Warrant and defend from my self my heirs executors and administrators, and from all and every other person or persons lawfully claiming or to claim by from or under me. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and afixed my seal this Nineteenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ten. 1810. Jno. Pettigrew {seal}

State of Delaware Kent County} Personally appeared before me James Millechop one of the Justices of the peace for the said county the within named John Pettigrew and acknowledged the within manumission to be his act and deed, in due form of law this 23 day of July 1810. Jas. Millechop
