Manumission Negro John From Joseph Aydelott

Know all men by these presents that I Joseph Aydelott of the County of Kent and State of Delaware for sundry good causes me hereunto moving do by these presents manumit enfranchise and set absolutely free a certain Negro by named John that was appraised to me with the estate of Mary Laws, decd, after serving me my heirs or assigns until the first day of May Eighteen hundred and sixteen and after which time is expired the said John to be free and at liberty and I do hereby warrant and defend the Freedom of said negro John against me and my heirs executors administrators or either of them and against every other person or persons claiming or to claim any rights or tittles to said Negro boy by from or under me my heirs executors administrators or assigns In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this first day of December one thousand eight hundred and twelve 1812. Signed sealed and delivd. in presence of: Elias Shockley, Molton Richards State of Delaware Kent County SS } Personally appeared before me the subscriber one of the justices of the peace for the said County the Revd.
