Manumission negro Jacob From Purnell Lofland
Know all men by these presents that I Purnell Lofland of the village of Milford in the County of Kent and State of Delaware for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moveing do hereby manumit enfranchise and absolutely set free my negro named Jacob, the same which I this day baught of James Lecompt to be full and at his full and perfect liberty on the tenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixteen at which time he will be about thirty one years old And I do hereby warrant and do defend the liberty and freedom of the said negro man named Jacob from my self my heirs executors and administrators, and from all and every person or persons lawfully claiming or to claim by from or under me after the expiration of the said term or time In withness whereof I have hereunto set my hands & Seal this 19 day of June 1811.
