Manumission Negro Jacob from Elizabeth Casson
Know all men by these presents that I Elizabeth Casson of the county of Kent and State of Delaware for divers good causes and considerations me hereunto moveing Do hereby Manumit enfranchise and absolutely set free my negro boy named Jacob. to be free and at his full and perfect liberty at the full end and expiration of Eleven Years from & after the date herein of which will be on the twentieth day of February Eighteen hundred & twenty one, at which time he will be about twenty eight years old. And I do hereby Warrant an defend the liberty & freedom of the said Negro Jacob from myself my heirs executors and administrators and from all & every person & persons lawfully claiming or to claim by from or under me or otherwise. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal this 19 day of February 1810. Elisabeth Casson {seal}
Witness Present Jacob Hazzard, Jacob Biddle,
State of Delaware Kent County } I do hereby certify that Elizabeth Casson personally appeared before me James Millechop one of the Justices of the Peace for the said County & acknowledged the above manumission of Negro Jacob to be her act & Deed Agreeable to the true intent and meaning thereof in due form of law. this 19 day of February 1810.
