Manumission Negro Jacob & Others from Joseph Barker Esquire

Know all men by these presents that I Joseph Barker of Pittsburgh in the state of Pennsylvania, Esquire, from motives of benevolence and humanity, have manumitted enfranchised, and set free from slavery, and do hereby manumit enfranchise and set free from slavery my negro slaves herein after named, that is to say, my negro male slave named Jacob, my negro female slave named Joice the wife  of the afore named Jacob, my negro boy slave named Peter, my negro Girl slave named Susan and my negro Girl slave named Polly which said Peter & Susan & Polly are the children of the said Jacob and Joice. and I do hereby give grant and release unto the aforesaid negroes all my right title and claim of in and to the Estate and property which they or any or either of them may hereafter acquire or obtain, and of in and to their and each and every of their persons labour and Service. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventeenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nine. Jos. Barker {seal}

State of Delaware Kent County Ss.} Be it remembered that on this seventeenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nine, Joseph Barker party to the foregoing deed of manumission personally appeared before me one of Justices of the County of Common pleas of the state of Delaware and did acknowledge that the said manumission is his act and deed. In Testimony whereof I the said Justice, have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year in this  behalf above written. Andw. Barratt {seal}
