James Buckmaster to Negro Jack Manumission
Know all men by these presents, that I James Buckmaster of the County of Kent in the State of Delaware doth hereby Manumit emancipate liberate and set free a certain Negro named Jack the slave of me the said James Buckmaster he being now thirty one years of age as reference to the Records of Thomas Buckmaster decd of their ages will show. being now considered and deemed a free man to all intents and purposes and shall be entitled to all the rights & liberties that a free negro or mulatto may or an enjoy in the State aforesaid In Witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this twentieth day of July eighteen hundred and fourteen James Buckmaster {seal}
