Manumission Negro Grace Monro from Abraham Monro
Know all men by these Presents. That I Abraham Monro of Kent County in the State of Delaware from motives of benevolence and humanity, Have manumitted and hereby do manumit and set from slavery, my negroe Girl named Grace Monro, aged about seventeen years: on Condition, however that she do forthwith bind herself by Indenture to serve me, my executors, administrators or Assigns, for and during the full Term of Five Years. And I do hereby give grant, and release unto the said Grace Monro, all my right, title and claim, of in and to her person labour and service, and of, in and to the Estate and property, which she may hereafter acquire or obtain; excepting only her service in manner and during the term above mentioned. Witness my hands and seal this Seventeenth day of October in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and six. Abraham Monro his mark {seal}
Sealed and Delivered in the presence of Henry M. Ridgely, John Lowber,
Kent County Ss. Be it remembered that on this 17th day of October 1806 Abraham Munro party to the foregoing deeds of Manumission, personally Appeared before me, one of the Justices of the Peace in and for Kent County aforesaid, and did acknowledge that the above written deed of Manumission is his act and Deed _ In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year in that behalf above written.
