Manumission George from James Jones 1803

To all whom it may concern. This is to certify that I James Jones of Duck creek hundred in Kent County and State of Delaware do hereby manumit, release and set free my negroe boy George aged eight years and five months old after he shall have served me, my heirs, executors, administrators or assigns nineteen years an seven months, and that on the twenty second day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty two, and then said negroe George is his own man an that he is free from me, my heirs, executors & administrators, & for a further confirmation thereof it is my request that this manumission should be recorded in the Recorder’s office. In testimony of which I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty second day of february in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and three. 1803
