Manumission Negro George from James Buckmaster
Know all men by these presents that I James Buckmaster of Mispillion hundred Kent County in the State of Delaware doth by these presents manumit liberate and set free and by these presents Hath manumitted liberated and set free a certain negro man named George, the property of me the said James Buckmaster, which said George was by the last will & Testament of my Father Thomas Buckmaster decd. Set free when he shall arive to the age of thirty five years. I the said James Buckmaster hereby declare that the said George shall from and after the date of these presents be deemed & considered a free man to all intents & purposes, and shall be intitled to all the priviledges that free negroes or mulattoes can or may enjoy in this State. In Witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed my seal the sixth day of Feby. In the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & six. James Buckmaster {seal}
Sealed & Delivered in presence of Andrew Purnell, Henry Acman,
State of Delaware Kent County } I do hereby certify that on the sixth day of Feby in the year one thousand eight hundred and six personaly came James Buckmaster before me the subscriber one of the Justices of peace in and for said County and acknowledg’d the within manumition to be his act and deed and deliver’d it for the use and purpose therein mentioned. In Testamony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and date above written. T. Price.
