Manumission Negro Charles from John Cook
This may certify whom it may concern that I John Cook Carpenter of Kent County and State of Delaware do hereby manumit and set free a negro boy named Charles, when he arrives at twenty eight years of age (he being twenty one years of age the 20th day of next May) ensuing the date of these presents and that thence after he shall be deemed a free man without any let or claim from myself, and from every other person claiming, or to claim, from by and under me, as Witness my hand and seal this twenty seventh Day of Jany. An. Dom. Eighteen hundred and eight. 1808

State of Delaware Kent County Ss.} Personally appeared the within named John Cook, before me the subscriber one of the Justices for said County, who acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be his act & Deed & the Signature & seal thereto annexed to be respectively his, for the uses & purposes therein mentioned.
