Manumission negro Buster From John Burton

Know all men by these presents that I John Burton, Physician, of Camden do manumit and set absolutely free my negro boy Buster now Eighteen years of age, when he shall arrive to the age of twenty five years to be then free to all intents & purposes as any other free Negro or Molatto that is by way set free in the state of Delaware agreeable to an act of assembly of the said state made and provided for the Confirmation of the negro boy Busters freedom as aforesaid I do warrant and defend against all persons or persons whatever and that I will have this manumission acknowledged & Recorded in Dover agreeable to an act of assembly of said State made and provided for the manumission of slaves – Witness my hand and Seal this 21st day of May 1811

State of Delaware Kent County } I Nathaniel Smithers one of the Justices of the peace of the state of Delaware for the County afsd hereby certify that the within named John Burton appeared before me and did acknowledge the within Instrument of writing as his act and deed for the uses intents and purposes therein mentioned. In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand & affixe my seal the 21st day of May 1811. Nath. Smithers.
