Manumission Charles Martain Negro from Levi Walcut.
State of Delaware Kent County} Be it Remembered that I Levi Walcut of Murderkill Hundred in the County and State Aforesaid, for divers good causes me hereto moving have Manumitted Emanepated Liberated and set free a certain Negro Man the slave of me the said Levi Walcutt, by the name of Charles Martian Reserving to my-self my heirs Executors administrators or Assigns the service and labour of him the said Charles untill the first day of January one thousand eight hundred and thirteen 1813. And if he the said Negro Charles should abscond from the service of me the said Levi Walcutt, my heirs Executors administrators or Assigns, that then and in such case the said Negro Charles, so absconding, shall make good his lost time by so absconding by servitude and labour after the expiration of the term mentioned for him to serve as aforesaid – In Witness whereof I the said Levi Walutt have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the first day of april in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven. 1811. State of Delaware Kent County} I do hereby certify that the above named Levi Walcott Personally appeared before me Thomas Price, one of the Justices of the peace in and for said County and did legally execute the foregoing Manumission and acknowledge the same to be his free act and Deed, and desired that it might be Recorded as such – In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the first day of April, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and eleven.
